Review: Blackberry Bellagio 9790

I'm gonna make this sweet short simple..

I've dedicated my time to testing out Bellagio. The one phone that shocked Indonesia with its launch!. Remember the queuing at Pacific Place that caused injuries to people? Yeah! that one!

RIM is having its most difficult time of its life. Its shows on the decreasing price of the shares, the rumors of its duo CEO resigning and ummm.. the quality of the product? You can be the judge of this, really.

Indonesia, I think, is the only country now who is addicted to Blackberry. I had a dinner meeting in Singapore where there were 10 of us and I'm the only one using Blackberry and the other were on iPhones! in US. 80% are on Android & iOS!

Bellagio is the latest Blackberry to be launched here (so far). The launch was huge! Rumors are, 5000 people came and were promised that the first 1000 will get 50% discount (2.3mil). Rumors also said that the fainted one and his/her friend got'em for free as well!.. Who was there? care to share?

Form Factor:

The "big" thing about Bellagio is that.. its Small! Have you seen its billboard around Jakarta that shows its picture from the side?. Funny thing is.. based on the specs, Blackberry Apollo is actually thinner! 11.4mm vs. 11mm!. hold on.. Dakota is 10.5mm!



Based on the three.. Apollo is the lightest, Dakota is the heaviest. Bellagio is the thickest, Dakota is the thinnest. Dakota has bigger screen, Bellagio relatively smaller, easier to hold. When it comes down to form factor, its all about preference, really. Some poeple like bigger phones (bigger screen), some like that fits well & easy to his/her pockets. How bout you?

What's Inside:

What matters usually processor & memory. It packs 1Ghz marvel tavor processor. Quite fast, but dakota is faster! packs the same memory, 768mb.

Everything else feels normal. Its OS7, the same with dakota, apollo, monza (the rest of the OS7 family). I have another point of view of this OS7 and its problems. I'll discuss it some other times on my blog maybe. Tried dakota & bellagio, both got problems!! latest OS for this is 7.0.0.557 from indosat. should work fine..

So...

+ :
* its small, light & easy to carry, slips right into your pocket.
* its reasonably affordable. Cheaper than dakota

- :
* its not as fast as expected (depending on the amount of BBM contacts & groups)
* kinda difficult to lock its key considering the lock button on top is abit hard

on an extra note, whichever phone you buy, make sure its Warrantied! never ever buy BM anymore! the smarter your phone gets, the bigger potential for problems :)
